On May 30, 2016, the Vietnamese version of the world's leading business magazine - Forbes, published a list of 50 best companies on Vietnam stock market in 13 business sectors and diversified ones. Gemadept Corporation was honored in the sector of Transport and Logistics.
The total market capitalization of the 50 companies reached 829,010 billion dongs, accounting for 62.14% of the market capitalization on both HOSE and HNX combined (as of May 16, 2016). Total revenue reached 475,546 billion dongs, making up 37.77% of the total market revenue. Total profit after tax of the companies in the list reached 53,482 billion dongs, occupying 53.08% of the total profits of the whole market.
The List of 50 Best Vietnamese Listed Companies is designed to provide information on the listed companies with outstanding business performances and high profits for investors; Moreover, the List also aims to honor and encourage the spirit of enterprises.
Forbes Viet Nam applied the ranking method following Forbes’ standards, taking into account the specific elements of Vietnamese listed companies. The data used to evaluate was based on audited financial statements of 5 consecutive years, the fiscal year of 2015. Forbes considered all listed companies, classified by business sectors. On the next step, the companies were graded under the criteria: Compound Annual Growth Rate on revenue and profit, Return On Equity (ROE), Return On Capital (ROC) and Earning Per Share (EPS) for the period of 2011-2015. In addition, Forbes Vietnam independently considered the sustainability development of the enterprises including: brand name, business management quality, sources of profits in the past and prospects for sustainable development.
Being among the 5 logistics companies in the List, Gemadept Corporation is the leading enterprise in Vietnam in Port and Logistics sectors. In 2015, capturing market opportunities with proper business strategies and flexible measures towards the fluctuations of the industries, Gemadept successfully exceeded its business plan in both revenue and profit. Concretely, the Company’s total revenue reached 3,593 billion dongs (12% above the annual plan) and total profit before tax was 505 billion dongs (53% higher than the plan). At the Company’s recent AGM, Gemadept issued a resolution in regard to the Company’s continued promotion of two core businesses - strengthening Port & Logistics sectors; developing system and market share; adding services both in width and depth; maintaining and developing its position as a leading enterprise in the industries.
